Jason & the inner RGB mountain

I had a dream the other night about a stone talking to me.
I was at a beach with a lot of stones. I picked up one, and it asked me “what species are you?”. (not with words, but anyways, like talking) I was surprised, but the stone explained that it was the first time it had an encounter with something like me. It had encountered many species and spirits on its journey from inside the earth, to the bottom of the ocean, in the ocean and all the way to the beach. And now, I was its first encounter with a human being.
I woke up, and was thinking about how often we pick up a stone, that has never been touched by a human hand before. Probably most of the times we pick up a stone.

Rockbalancing on Thorvaldens sculpture

JASON is an exhibition space. It is positioned next to Thorvaldsen’s 200 year old lunch table in the overgrown secret garden of The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ sculpture school, once Copenhagen’s first botanical garden.
JASON is both a table, plinth and stage.
JASON takes its name from Thorvaldsen’s breakthrough sculpture Jason with the Golden Fleece from 1803. It was with money from this sculpture that Thorvaldsen was made independent from the Danish state and able to stay in Italy.
JASON is a sundial; a ionic column from the ruins of Copenhagen’s old parliament building serves as its shadow-casting gnomon.

Production of magic wands and Money speculation

The project was postponed due to the corona situation. I hope to realize the project in the fall of 2020.

The advent of the financial crisis caused economists, politicians and citizens to question
the legitimacy of a debt-based money system and highlighted the need to reassess our
beliefs about the nature of money and the workings of the banking sector.
Today, with the Covid-19 situation, the need to understand and rethink money, the
money-creation process, value, finance and banking seems more important than ever.
The way money is created and circulated is not a law of nature. The money system is a
human construction, which can be changed at any time if there is democratic support for
it.

“When bankers get together for dinner, they discuss Art. When artists get together for
dinner, they discuss Money.” – Oscar Wilde

The project runs in 3 tracks that are merged.
– Production of magic wands
– Money speculation
– Salon

Through a performative exhibition, an information salon and a lectures series, I am aiming
to ask questions, spread knowledge and transform our current paradigms on value and
money.

Production of magic wands
is a performative exhibition where I will build magic wands through rituals, based on
shamanic principles.
Furthermore I will spread knowledge, thoughts, philosophy and reflections about money
and value in the alternative networks of water and oyster mushrooms. I do this is by
Studying the online course “Economics of Money and Banking” at Columbia University
together with 25 litres of water and an small in-house oyster mushroom farm.
The water, the mushrooms and I will earn a degree together.
The oyster Mushrooms will also get the book “The mushroom at the end of the world”
read aloud.
Water understands human language. The water will in offerings be sent to the sky and the
ground.
The oyster mushrooms will be planted in Ekebergparken and by Norges bank.
Both water and mushrooms will spread knowledge and drive our consciousness towards a
paradigm shift in the understanding of value, economics, banking and finance.
Why is it that our monetary system and value perception are as it is?
What will it take to transform and replace the monetary system with a sensible and
sustainable one?
Why is it easier to imagine the end of human kind than the end of capitalism?

Money speculation
is a lecture series on KCAC that addresses money creation, value creation, alternative
currencies, economy, speculation, etc.
The word “money speculation” points both towards economic philosophy and financial speculation.
The lectures are arranged in collaboration with Open forum and Rethinking Economics
Norway.
Rethinking Economics is an international network of students, academics and
professionals building a better economics in society and the classroom.
Open Forum is a lecture series at KCAC under the auspices of the Art Academy..
To make a make a room where artists, art students, student of economics and finance
interested can meet, reflect, and discuss value, money, paradigms, banking and the
current monetary system is to me creating value. It is two scenes that does not intertwine
enough.
Before we had to cancel/postpone the project we had one talk with Johanne Aarup
Hansen talking both about her work dealing with design of monetary systems and her
political work.

Salon
is together with the exhibition, KCAC being open throughout the day with a public
information attitude. Books, films and other material will be accessible along with tea,
coffee, tenderness, dialogue and artmoney.
Money appears as one of the most specific and yet at the same time perhaps the most
abstract phenomena we surround ourselves with in our daily lives. Today, money has
changed shape from cash to digital money, not as a result of a catastrophe, a
governmental intervention or a democratic decision, but rather as a result of a gradual
technological and political development.
About 5 percent of the total money stock is today made up of cash, that is produced by
the Central Bank. The remaining stock of money, that is about 95 percent, is not created
by the Central Bank, however, but by the private banks. Digital money is created when a
bank gives a loan to its customer, and money appears on their bank account. This kind of
money is only visible as numbers on a screen.
The majority of money in the modern economy is created by commercial banks extending
loans.
https://internationalmoneyreform.org/ is a global movement that challenges the current
money system. The aim is money creation free of debt by a public institution in the public
interest.

We need the spirits of water and oyster mushrooms to work for that as well!

In the project we are playing with the thought that materials have an active impact on our art-production. We choose to view our surroundings so to allow the materials to have a will of their own, by that we give the materials the possibility to express themselves together with us.

During the process we have collaborated with a shaman and scientists, each with different approaches to the idea of materials as something with a will of its own. We are used to see verbal language as the highest form of communication. If we slow down and listen, communication exist in many forms; a play with the whole sensory apparatus where smell, taste, touch, hearing and sight interfere with each other.

In our research we have been intrigued by François Laplantine’s Choreographic model, a way to understand the materials as agents that transform us as much as we transform them.

“Kairos is the instant in which I am no longer with others in a relationship of mere coexistence but where I begin to be disrupted and transformed by them. Whereas in a topographical approach we take, we seize, we appropriate an object, in a choreographic approach, and more precisely in the time of kairos, there is no longer an object that can be regarded as a radical outside” François Laplantine in ”The life of the Senses” (2015)

In our process we have worked within the repetitive form of cycles, the practice of coming back to the materials and doing an action over and over again. Through this our perception of the materials dissolves, rhythms appears and new relationships are created.

The project is supported by Atelier Hotel Pro Forma and Arts Council Norway. Special thanks to Secret Hotel and Labitat, Copenhagen.

Slow Schism Slow Mating Fast Fading

This morning I’ve been reading an article about Edward Hirsch, a poet and literary critic, who has a very ecstatic conception of art. That is quite rare these days. There is a danger, when talking about ecstasy, of sounding like some gushing New Age hippy. On the other hand, if you don’t talk about the ecstatic at all, there’s a danger of sounding like a stubborn materialist.  Duende, as far as I understand it, means those moments in artistic activity when something else takes over, when something speaks through you. It’s similar to a muse or an angel, but these things come from some lofty height, while duende rises up from the chthonic depths, from the body and the groin, from the darkness, from death itself. The word comes from duen de casa, ‘lord of the house’, meaning a sort of daemon or local spirit.

Self-development and self-realization in a psychology-based world has in many ways taken the place of religion. The answer must be found “in yourself” a good life “is lived from within.”
The idea that people have a conscious and an unconscious part of the mind, is in my belief widely accepted. Being able to “work” with the unconscious part of the mind is part of our time psychological understanding of reality. One can say that the “unconscious mind” where to “look inward” for understanding and explanation, has taken over the transcendental place of God where you looked out / up for understanding and explanation.
Many of the infinite ways and forms found in the self-development (in the expanded field) I find exciting, interesting, absurd, poetic, beautiful, ugly, etc.

I was attending a music festival at Vesterbro, Copenhagen in late April, at one piont I enjoyed a sandwich and a pint along with a few friends and a few concerts. One of the venues was Kristikirken.
Out in front of the church, and at festival in general, there was a good atmosphere.
I was smoking a cigarette outside, and a Polderabend bride used my lighter for her cigarette.

The lady in the big crazy white dress was pastor Liane – not a Bride,,, We started talking, and she told me that they had culture in the Night Church every Thursday.

KLANG MASSAGE
I invited the priest of the Night Church Liane and a few other artists to try sound massage in the church. The sound of these sessions were recorded. And we talked about the experience afterwards.
The sound massage consist of sounds but also of a concrete physical element. One can both hear the vibrations and feel them through the vibrations from the singing bowls. The bowl / bowls are placed on the body and are tapped out, and the vibrations propagate, both as audible vibrations / tones in the room and vibrations in the body.
It is a different listening experience, and the body’s connection to the room comes into play, and is experienced in a new way.
To both hear and feel the vibration is something that is usually reserved for bass frequencies, and to hear and feel the vibration at the same time puts perceptual mechanisms in a new situation.

The largest religious experiences I have had, has been with radios.
Years ago, I spent a lot of time experimenting with old radios, mostly as a kind of musical instrument, but also with a sense of being a kind of Robert Walton (Frankenstein’s father). When radios were linked together, more of the time, they lived their own lives, rhythms occurred, they changed and interfered with each other without my influence.
What’s actually happening with the electromagnetic quirks I have not quite figured out, but sometimes it’s as the radios come alive, or something alive is created between them.

A dialogue with bricks’n’sticks

Does buildings have the ability to save vibrations in their structure?

This is a transformation ritual, set to strengthen and amplify a few qualities I consider important in art education such as; personal crisis, personal conflicts, madness, love, antisocial behavior, diagnoses, perversity, spirituality, bodies of water, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversation, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, light and shadows, destruction, pressure, pleasure, boundaries lost, jail time. speechless, bench. Stretch. Nutrition. Healthy Dinner. Inner dialog. Outer dialog. Over dialog. Behind and upfront. Porn time. Diarrhea. Diary. Bridge. Fear. Fat. Consuming. Running. Getting real. Fake it. Flop it. Fuck it. Totally alone. Forever. One. Matter. Mad. Figure. Brave coward, so sad, such laugh. Jizz and chips. Light soda. Dark soda. Freeway, superstition, meat, numbers, facts, fuckers. Power. Scream and dream supression. Avoiding. Void. Emptiness. Fool. Summery. Reference, contrast, concentration, contradiction, contraction, explosion. Skin. Vein. Shot. Value. Closed. Eyes. Still. Gone. None. Some. Shit. What?
